All-Clear in Penultimate Round of Testing

|

Oxford United have received an all-clear in their penultimate round of coronavirus testing before their League One play-off final against Wycombe Wanderers on Monday.

The tests took place yesterday, with all coming back negative. All players and staff will be tested again tomorrow ahead of next weeks match.

Speaking to the clubs’ official website, U’s boss Karl Robinson said: “No new injuries, no suspensions and hopefully nobody is ruled out on medical grounds now, especially after the way we have looked after ourselves over the last few weeks.

“I think the shock of two positive tests early on made us all that little bit more aware and cautious and so far so good.

“You can’t let the situation affect your build-up and you can’t worry about external issues that might have a massive effect.”

He added: “Since lockdown, we have challenged ourselves as a staff and dealt with all of the circumstances the best we possibly can.

“Two games in four days has set us up fitness-wise and we have applied ourselves to the letter of the law.

“Everything that the EFL have asked of us we have done- we have not cut one corner and now we just look forward to the game on Monday.”

The U’s saw off Portsmouth on penalties last Monday having drawn both legs 1-1. Meanwhile, the Chairboys eased past Fleetwood Town to set up the Wembley showdown.
