Anthony Forde Is U’s Fifth Summer Signing

Following his release from Rotherham United, Anthony Forde has become the latest signing at Oxford United.

The 25-year-old winger, who spent three seasons in Yorkshire, becomes the fifth signing of the summer.

The Northern Irishman told the club’s website: “I have always admired the way Karl Robinson’s sides play the game.

“They are good attacking teams and that will suit the way I want to play. I know the club is ambitious and I can’t wait to get started now.”

Forde was part of the Rotherham United side who won promotion from Sky Bet League One two seasons ago and also scored for the Millers as they beat the U’s in February 2018.

The winger, who made 28 appearances for Rotherham as they suffered relegation from the Championship, featured 114 times for the club, with two seasons spent in the second tier.

Prior to his arrival at Rotherham, Forde made 78 appearances for League One Walsall, and before that he spent two seasons at Wolverhampton Wanderers, making 21 appearances. He has also been involved at international level, making 11 under 21 appearances with Northern Ireland.

He is the second new arrival at the Kassam Stadium in the last 24 hours after the U’s signed Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn on a season-long loan.
