Oxford United midfielder Cameron Brannagan has targeted promotion with the club despite interest from several Championship clubs.

Reports today suggest that QPR, Sheffield United, Stoke City, Preston and Blackpool are looking to lure the midfielder away from Grenoble Road.

The latter have shown interest in Brannagan for some time. Last summer, the U’s rejected a bid and the Seasiders saw two further offers waved away in the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, QPR’s Director of Football, Les Ferdinand, was in attendance recently as Oxford won 1-0 against MK Dons, where Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson was also in attendance after casting an eye on Elliott Moore.

Brannagan, who has netted 14 times this season, has just 12 months left on his current deal but the five clubs have all reportedly enquired about the midfielder.

However, speaking to BBC Oxford, the 25-year-old expressed his desire to stay. He said: “I’m contracted to the club and I absolutely love it here.

“I’d be lying if I said anything else.

“I’ve always said a big part of your life is not just on the pitch but off the pitch and I’m very happy.

“I just want to focus on my football and when pre-season comes I’ll work hard.

“I want to rebuild and get out of this league.”

Brannagan joined the U’s from Liverpool in January 2018 and has made 187 appearances for the club. In that time, he has added 29 goals and 17 assists for Karl Robinson’s side.
