Oxford United duo Mark Harris and Des Buckingham have been nominated for monthly awards for April.

Buckingham led the U’s to four wins and a draw from six league games to ensure the club secured a playoff position. Two of those victories ended 4-0, with another against Peterborough ending 5-0.

Buckingham is up against former U’s skipper and League One champion John Mousinho, Derby County’s Paul Warner and Wycombe Wanderers boss Matt Bloomfield.

Liam Manning was the first Oxford manager to pick up the award since 2005 when he won August’s Manager of the Month.

Elsewhere, Mark Harris has been nominated for Player of the Month.

The 25-year-old struck six goals from six, including braces in those 4-0 wins over Fleetwood and Burton respectively.

The Welshman also scored the opener on the final day as the U’s beat Exeter to secure a top-six finish.

Harris has been shortlisted alongside Blackpool goalkeeper Dan Grimshaw, Reading midfielder Lewis Wing, and Bolton Wanderers forward Aaron Collins.
