Phil Edwards, 31 was signed by Michael Appleton last summer after the preseason injury to Christian Ribeiro.
Phil arrived on loan from Burton Albion where he had helped the Brewers to promotion from Sky Bet league 2 and 1. However the step up to the Championship meant he was pushed down the pecking order.
The U’s moved swiftly to secure the player who played in 51 matches for the yellows scoring 5 goals.
At the end of the season he returned to Burton but was not offered a new deal. Lee Clark wasted no time who had seen him first hand at the Kassam stadium to offer him a 2 year contract. So we will see the likeable player line up against the U’s next season.
