Further Injury Woes For Oxford United

|

Oxford United’s injury woes have been exacerbated as Karl Robinson’s side played out a goalless draw with Shrewsbury Town.

Jamie Hanson, who was due to make his league return against the Shrews, suffered another hamstring injury during the week and could be out for another 4-6 weeks.

Robinson told the Oxford Mail: “Jamie’s done his other hamstring and will be out for four to six weeks.

“It’s a real strange one. When you train and play every day you build up an ability to perform at those levels, but when you’ve been out for so long (it’s not there). It’s one of those really unlucky situations and it’s put himself back.”

Meanwhile, during their stalemate at Grenoble Road, both Anthony Forde and James Henry were replaced.

Forde suffered a suspected broken rib, while Henry suffered a thigh strain.

Robinson spoke after the game: “Fordey couldn’t breathe and was on oxygen. We suspect it’s broken ribs, maybe two or three. That’s a long one. It is what it is right now, you can’t do anything about it.

“Jamo’s is a thigh, it looks like that has gone so it could be a four-weeker. He felt it at half-time and gave it a go, but it wasn’t to be.”

It’s a triple blow for the U’s. Midfielders Cameron Brannagan and Shandon Baptiste could next week, but the midfield is beginning to look threadbare.
