Oxford United have re-signed former loanee Nathan Holland from West Ham United. The winger arrives on a season-long loan.

The 23-year-old joined the U’s in January 2020 and scored three times from 12 appearances for the club, including a last-minute equaliser against Newcastle United in the FA Cup.

However, the West Ham winger returned to his parent club in March after suffering a hamstring injury, although the season was curtailed early due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to the Oxford Mail, Holland said: “I feel like I’m back for unfinished business.

“With Covid and injuries the loan spell was cut short, but when I did play I thoroughly enjoyed it.

“This time I’ve come in with the experience of League One, whereas last time it was an unknown for me.

“I’m sure I can settle in very quickly. I know what to expect this time.”

Holland appears to have put the worst of his injuries behind him and has been involved in the Hammers’ pre-season matches and training.

He added: “Especially after the injuries I’ve had, I feel very eager and excited to get going.

“Hopefully I can get out there and show everyone what I can do.

“I did my rehab from my injury and had a few issues last year, but I’ve started pre-season well and got a few valuable minutes under my belt.”

Speaking to the club’s official website, U’s boss Karl Robinson said: “It’s a fantastic signing for us.

“He has pace, he scores goal and he fitted in so well last time.

“He has been on a lot of club’s radar and we think he is only going to get better so we welcome him back and look forward to working with him again.”
