“If he wants to come and sign for us in the next ten days we will sign Chris Cadden” – Karl Robinson

Despite being recalled from his season-long loan yesterday, Oxford United haven’t given up the possibility of signing Chris Cadden on a permanent basis.

The 23-year-old was recalled by his parent club Columbus Crew yesterday after they had turned down an offer made by the U’s for a permanent transfer.

But Robinson is determined to ensure the Scottish International remains an Oxford player and admits that the people above him are willing to put a significant amount of money on the table for him.

Robinson told the Oxford Mail: “If he wants to come and sign for us in the next ten days we will sign Chris Cadden.

“The chairman is willing to pay a lot of money for a right back at this level that other teams wouldn’t pay.

“The salary would be fine, the fans love him, the player loves being here.”

Sam Long is expected to replace Cadden, but Robinson admitted he was looking to bring another right-back to the club.

The U’s have also been linked with Kilmarnock right-back Stephen O’Connell. The 27-year-old is out of contract in the summer but the League One side are hopeful of snapping up the Scottish international this month.
