Oxford United have two new injury concerns ahead of Tuesday nights match against Watford in the Carabao Cup.

Alex Rodriguez Gorrin has been ruled out for a month and missed the U’s defeat at Lincoln City as a result, while Josh Ruffels was forced off at Sincil Bank with a shoulder injury.

Gorrin damaged ankle ligaments during the U’s Carabao Cup first-round win against AFC Wimbledon last week, and won’t be in action until October.

Speaking before the Lincoln match, U’s boss Karl Robinson said: “We’ve had the scan results back and it looks like it will be another three or four weeks.

“It was a terrible tackle from behind when you see it back where he rolled his ankle.

“Typical Alex, he didn’t feel it at the time, it was only when he came off and sat down that his ankle locked up.”

Gorrin was key for Oxford last season, playing 31 of the U’s 35 games in the league. And it’s a familiar story for Ruffels, with the full-back failing to complete 90 minutes just once last season.

After the game, Robinson failed to comment on how long the 26-year-old will be sidelined for, but we should know more by Monday.
