Oxford United travel to AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday night with both sides looking to record a fourth successive victory.

Match Preview: Dons vs U’s

The U’s have overseen wins against Crewe, Shrewsbury and Gillingham, scoring 13 goals, while the Dons have scored 12 times with victories over Accrington, Ipswich and Swindon.

Ahead of the game, we have spoken to Ray Armfield, AFC Wimbledon matchday magazine contributor, and he has answered some of our questions.

Where do you think you’ll finish this season?

19th or 20th will do. Hopefully no lower, but can’t see us catching Shrewsbury either.

Who do you think will finish in the top six?

That’s trickier. Hull and Peterborough look nailed on for the automatic slots. Playoffs? Sunderland, Lincoln, Blackpool, then any one from Portsmouth, Charlton and yourselves. Sneaking suspicion Pompey will still go up.

Who do you think will finish in the bottom four?

Hopefully (for us) the current bottom four. Keep an eye on Rochdale though.

Key player(s) for AFC Wimbledon?

No real stars, but Joe Pigott’s goals are invaluable and two homegrown youngsters in Jack Rudoni and Ayoub Assal have shone recently.

Thoughts on Mark Robinson?

‘Robbo’ has been a breath of fresh air. He’s single-minded, fan-orientated and is as hungry to succeed as any of our players are.

A word on your teams playing style?

We are playing a bit more possession-based football now, allied to pressing to win it back. And of course, seeing an end result now.

Favourite match this season?

Really enjoyed us beating Ipswich (3-0) so comprehensively last week.

Least favourite match this season?

Hated losing at home to Milton Keynes which hastened the departure of Glyn Hodges.

Has playing behind closed doors affected or hindered your team?

Behind closed doors has definitely affected us, particularly with Plough Lane ready and waiting for us.

Any Oxford players you would like to see in your team?

I’ve always rated Simon Eastwood as a goalkeeper so anyone who keeps him out of the team must be doing well, and Jack Stevens played a blinder against us earlier this season.

Thoughts on Oxford?

Oxford look to have hit form at a good time but will need to keep winning to secure a playoff place with so many snapping at their heels.

What do you think the score will be?

Tuesday’s game could either be a classic or a cagey affair. I’d be happy with a point and 1-1.

Random fact about your club?

Since winning the Southern League in 1977, I’ve seen Wimbledon’s football club play in twelve different divisions!
