Oxford will soon know their opponents in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy for 2015-16 with the sponsors committing to the competition for their 10th Anniversary.

Renewing the sponsorship of the Football League Trophy for another year, this season’s JPT will begin on the week commencing August 31 and although details of the draw for the 48 competing clubs in League 1 and 2 are sparse, I believe it will take place like normal on Sky Sports’ Soccer AM and has provisionally been set for August 15.

As is standard though it will be split into a Northern and Southern section with an April 3 trip for the finalists to Wembley Stadium, with a prize pot of up to £124,000 for the eventual winners.

Football League Chief Executive, Shaun Harvey said of another year with the sponsors.

“Ten years of continuous support is an outstanding level of commitment from a sponsor and I would like to offer my grateful appreciation to Johnstone’s Paint for continuing what is comfortably the longest and most successful sponsorship in the history of this competition. The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy remain a great opportunity for League 1 and 2 clubs to achieve their own piece of cup glory and enjoy the financial rewards associated with such success.”

Jason Metcalf, Marketing Director of Johnstone’s Paint explained about their continuing commitment.

“We are extremely proud of the way the sponsorship has developed over the last nine years and delighted to be extending the agreement into a tenth season. The competition has gone from strength to strength and it was fantastic to have more than 72,000 fans at Wembley for the 2015 final, an extra special occasion for us as it coincided with the 125th anniversary year of Johnstone’s Paint. We are very proud that we have engaged with millions of people throughout the sponsorship and look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with clubs and their legions of fans moving forward.”
