The month began with Ed McGinty extending his loan spell at Sligo Rovers. The 24-year-old will stay with the League of Ireland club until the end of their domestic season.

Louie Sibley became the fifth summer signing with the 22-year-old penning a long term deal after leaving boyhood club, Derby. The midfielder had turned out over 170 times for the Rams and brings some extra Championship experience.

The U’s were then linked with AFC Wimbledon left-back, Jack Currie. The 22-year-old was out of contract in the summer but the club triggered a 12 month option. The following day, Des Buckingham got his man.

Idris El Mizouni was the next to be linked with reports claiming the U’s had agreed a deal worth £400k for the Ipswich midfielder. He would join the U’s just days later, committing to a long-term deal.

The U’s were then one of three EFL clubs monitoring a move for Sturm Graz right-back, Max Johnston. Luton and Birmingham also enquired about the 20-year-old who could be available for a loan move.

Oxford made their eighth signing of the summer with the arrival of Poland international, Przemyslaw Placheta. The 26-year-old joined the U’s as a free agent after his Swansea City contract expired last month.

A third goalkeeper was next through the door as the U’s signed experienced shot-stopper, Matt Ingram. The 30-year-old joined the club from Hull for an undisclosed fee.

Oxford won their first pre-season match back in England with a 3-0 victory over Oxford City. Goals from Louie Sibley, Will Goodwin and Cameron Brannagan netted goals at Court Place Farm.

The U’s then won by the same scoreline against Solihull Moors. Mark Harris, Tyler Goodrham and James Golding all found the net against the National League side.

Summer signing Jacob Knightbridge then joined National League side, Braintree Town, on a six-month loan deal.

Next up, Tyler Goodrham penned a new long-term deal with the club. The 20-year-old has gone from strength to strength since making his U’s debut in 2019.

Cameron Brannagan was next to pen a long-term deal with the club. The 28-year-old is just ten appearances shy of 300 in yellow and has been a key figure in helping the U’s secure promotion back to the second tier.

The U’s then lost in a behind closed doors friendly match against Exeter before defeat at Mansfield in another friendly. However, Buckingham’s side bounced back with an impressive 2-0 win over Premier League newcomers, Southampton, with first-half goals from Mark Harris and Ruben Rodrigues.
