League One Preview: Oxford United v Burton Albion – Team News, Form and Prediction

|

Oxford United will be looking for back-to-back league wins this Saturday when the U’s welcome Burton.

Karl Robinson’s side won 2-1 at Cheltenham last weekend and picked up a 5-0 victory over Leyton Orient in the Football League Trophy on Tuesday.

Burton are rock bottom of League One with five losses and one draw from their opening six matches. The Brewers have lost their last three league games but scored four in the week against Leicester City U21s.

While goals may have been hard to come by for the U’s, they’ll be up against the leakiest defence with the Brewers already allowing 18 in the league.

Oxford are still without several players through injury, including Yanic Wildschut, Josh Murphy and Sam Baldock, while Billy Bodin is suspended after his red card at Whaddon Road.

Burton are without Conor Shaughnessy and Michael Mancienne while Calum Butcher and William Kokolo are doubts. Jonny Smith is suspended after picking up a red card in their defeat against Cambridge.

The U’s have won the last five meetings between the two sides and are unbeaten in six. Burton have one win from the last nine encounters, but that did come at Grenoble Road.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Ciaron Brown, Stuart Findlay, Sam Long, Steve Seddon, James Golding, Marcus McGuane, Cameron Brannagan, Lewis Bate, Kyle Joseph, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: Oxford United 2-0 Burton Albion
