League One Preview: Oxford United v Shrewsbury Town – Team News, Form and Prediction

|

Oxford United will be looking to avoid a fourth straight defeat when the U’s welcome Shrewsbury on Saturday.

Karl Robinson’s side lost 2-1 at home against Barnsley on Wednesday night – a result which followed back-to-back 2-0 losses at Wycombe and Burton respectively.

The Shrews have won their last four league games and kept clean sheets in their last two away matches. Admittedly, the four teams all sit in the bottom five but that’s still a valuable 12 points gained, despite late winners in the most recent two victories.

The visitors sit five places and six points better off than Oxford but have only scored one more goal.

Josh Murphy may be available but the U’s are still without James Henry, Sam Baldock, Alex Gorrin and Marcus Browne. Cameron Brannagan also picked up an injury in the defeat against the Tykes.

Shrewsbury are without George Nurse but Daniel Udoh could return.

Left-back Luke Leahy is the top scorer with eight, while fellow defenders Matthew Pennington and Chey Dunkley have six and four goals respectively. Striker Christian Saydee has scored seven.

Oxford have a good record against the Shrews and are unbeaten in their last nine meetings. The reverse fixture ended 1-1 but the U’s have three wins and a draw from their last four meetings at Grenoble Road.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Brandon Fleming, Ciaron Brown, Elliott Moore, Sam Long, Djavan Anderson, Marcus McGuane, Lewis Bate, Yanic Wildschut, Kyle Joseph, Tyler Smith.

Prediction: Oxford United 0-0 Shrewsbury Town
