Oxford United are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Conor McAleny in the four nil victory over Chesterfield at the weekend at the Proact Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why McAleny was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Another hat-trick hero among this week`s selection is McAleny, who scored a stunning treble for the in-form Oxford. The first of his efforts in the 4-0 rout of Chesterfield was also named Sky Bet League One`s Goal of the Weekend, capping off a fine weekend for the Everton loanee.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to McAleny for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

Connor Ripley (Oldham Athletic), Alex Whitmore (Morecambe), James Chester (Aston Villa), Cameron Burgess (Bury), Jamie Murphy (Brighton), Josh Wright (Gillingham), David Davis (Birmingham City), Jota (Brentford), Conor McAleny (Oxford United), Billy Sharp (Sheffield United), Nicky Ajose (Swindon Town).
