Mixed Injury News for Oxford United

|

Oxford United have confirmed that Cameron Brannagan will miss tomorrow nights League One match against Ipswich Town.

The 23-year-old, who had been sidelined with a knee injury, returned to action before the new year but clearly struggled as the U’s lost against Rotherham United on Saturday.

As a result, the former Liverpool man was replaced at half time, and the midfielder was sent for an ultrasound scan earlier today.

U’s boss Karl Robinson told the Oxford Mail: “Cameron Brannagan is going in for an ultra-sound scan today on his knee.

“It’s fine in relation to stability, so it’s just a question of how we reduce the pain. It’s completely healed, but there will be an element of soreness to it.

“The more you play the greater the pain gets but the ligament doesn’t get any weaker.

“We’ll have a look at other methods which might ease it, but whatever that may be he will need a four-day rest period on that and we’ll see where we are. It’s nothing to worry about.”

Meanwhile, Jamie Hanson has returned to full training today after suffering successive hamstring injuries.

The midfielder sustained an injury back in September, before suffering another hamstring injury in December just before his return, but he could be back playing before the end of the month
