Mixed News for Oxford United Injury List

|

Oxford United are currently without a number of key players through injury,  although there is some good news, a few players have been ruled out for longer than expected.

Midfielder Cameron Brannagan is one of those that will have to wait before making his return.

The 23-year-old, who has been an integral part of Karl Robinson’s squad this season, picked up a knee injury during the win over Rochdale, but a second scan revealed more damage.

The U’s boss initially said the midfielder would be for this weekends clash with Ipswich Town, which has now been postponed due to the league leaders having international call-ups.

Robinson told the Oxford Mail: “I think it’s going to be another four weeks. It was a bit worse than we expected.

“I’ll be honest, we knew before the game with Ipswich (was decided). We just didn’t want it to get out there.”

The latest scan has ruled Brannagan out for the trip to Southend on November 23, but could the following week when the U’s are in FA Cup action.

But there is good news for Josh Ruffels, who will be back in action at Southend. The left-back also picked up his injury during the win over Rochdale.

Jamie Hanson is due to restart full training within the next couple of weeks, but Ben Woodburn is likely to be sidelined until mid-December.
