“My aim is to get promoted”

New Oxford United signing, Tariqe Fosu, insists the club are aiming for promotion ahead of next season.

The 23-year-old winger arrived at the club yesterday, but had been rumoured to join Karl Robinson’s side for a while.

Even the Charlton boss, Lee Bowyer, confirmed last week that Fosu was set for a reunion with Robinson, who managed him whilst at the Valley.

Fosu flew out with his new teammates for their pre-season training camp in Portugal and has already set his sights high after finally putting pen-to-paper.

“My aim is to get promoted,” he told the Oxford Mail.

He goes on to say he is hungry for game time and plenty of goals.

Fosu made 30 appearances as the Addicks won promotion to the Championship last season. But many Charlton fans admitted that the winger played his best football in his previous season, whilst working under Robinson.

The winger added also spoke positively about his new manager, the man who also brought him to the Valley in 2017.

This all sounds very positive, doesn’t it?

The signing ends Robinson’s long pursuit of the winger, who scored 11 goals in 65 games for Charlton.

Having paid an undisclosed fee to sign Fosu from Reading two years ago, the U’s boss is excited to be reunited with the winger.

“He’s a fantastic player, he’s one of the better ones I’ve signed for a long time,” said Robinson.
