Oxford United defender Rob Dickie has been subject to transfer speculation all season, but now, Nottingham Forest have emerged as the front runners for his signature.

The 24-year-old, who joined the U’s from Reading in January 2018, has gone on to make over 100 appearances for Karl Robinson’s side and has become one of the key members of the squad.

With the U’s failing to secure promotion to the Championship following defeat in the League One playoff final against Wycombe Wanderers, it looks likely that Dickie will be one of a number of players that will move on during the transfer window.

A report by the Nottinghamshire Post claim that Forest are leading the chase, with promotion Rivals Fulham also showing interest in the defender. Sky Sports have also claimed that a “fee of between £2-3 million” will be required to secure the deal.

It isn’t the first time the defender has been linked with a move away. Championship leaders Leeds United had shown interest earlier this season, as had Premier League sides Burnley and Southampton.

The 24-year-old has made 49 appearances this season and signed a one year contract extension with the club earlier in the campaign.
