Oxford Duo Shortlisted for Monthly Awards

|

Oxford United manager Karl Robinson and U’s striker Matty Taylor have both been nominated for monthly awards after a solid February.

Despite losing heavily to Peterborough United and suffering defeat at home to Sunderland, the U’s picked up five wins from eight league games.

The other result was a draw at Burton Albion, which came just one week after the U’s took Newcastle United to extra time in their FA Cup fourth-round replay.

Robinson, who has already been nominated three times this season, hasn’t won the award since his time at MK Dons and is up against Fleetwood Town’s Joey Barton, Kenny Jacket of Portsmouth and league leaders Coventry City boss, Mark Robins.

But it isn’t just Robinson up for an award. Taylor is shortlisted for Player of the Month after scoring seven goals in six games to help move the U’s back into the playoffs after a disappointing January.

It’s the fourth time an Oxford player has been in the running, with Taylor also in the select four in November.

This time around, the on-loan Bristol City man is up against Portsmouth defender Christian Burgess, MK Dons striker Rhys Healey and Rotherham United frontman Freddie Ladapo.
