Oxford United have expressed interest in West Bromwich Albion right-back Ethan Ingram, according to The Athletic.

The 19-year-old is the fourth choice in the position at the Hawthorns with Darnell Furlong and Taylor Gardner-Hickman among those ahead of him. As a result, the defender is keen to get regular minutes at senior level.

West Brom aren’t looking to sell, despite only making his Baggies debut last season in a Carabao Cup defeat against Arsenal, so a loan move would suit both parties.

The need for a right-back is a priority for Oxford, but they could face a battle with time. MK Dons, Cheltenham Town, Crewe Alexandra to land the youngster.

Following the departure of Anthony Forde to Wrexham, Sam Long is currently the club’s only recognised right-back, making the position an important area to find cover.

Ingram has featured over 60 times for the Baggies’ U18 and U21 teams, where he has scored once and added eight assists.
