Oxford United have signed recently released Cardiff striker, Mark Harris.

The 24-year-old, who came through the Bluebirds’ academy, left the Welsh club in the summer after 17 years.

During his time at the Cardiff City Stadium, Harris netted ten times from 95 appearances. The five times Welsh-capped striker had also spent time on loan at Newport County, Port Vale and Wrexham.

The forward, who can also play on either flank, was in talks over a new deal with the Welsh club but he refused a contract and has signed for the U’s.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Harris said: “It’s great to get everything sorted and I’m looking forward to it.

“The manager told me all about the plans the club has and the way they want to play to get there.

“His style of football is going to really suit me. I enjoyed my time at Cardiff, but this is a chance to make a new start and show what I can do, playing in what we all hope will be a very successful side.”

U’s head coach Liam Manning added: “As with all of our signings this summer, Mark has a fantastic attitude and outstanding ability.

“Technically he is very good, he is fast, he creates and scores goals and he is a player I know a lot of clubs were interested in. Signing a full international with his best years ahead of him is a big thing for us.”
