Preview: League One: Bolton Wanders vs Oxford United

|

Oxford United will be looking to secure back to back league wins for the first time this season when they travel to Bolton Wanderers for tonights League One fixture.

The U’s eased past Tranmere Rovers last time out, while Bolton, who are yet to win this season, suffered a heavy defeat at Rotherham United.

Oxford should be full of confidence following their recent win and, although they headed into the Tranmere game on a poor run which included four defeats from five, Karl Robinson’s side were playing some decent football.

It’s a game in which the U’s would be expected to secure another three points, with this new look Trotters side still in need of some time to gel following the arrival of ten new faces.

One of the new faces is former Oxford skipper, Jake Wright. Following Sheffield United’s promotion to the Premier League, the 33-year-old defender has been loaned out and made his Bolton debut in the 6-1 defeat at Rotherham United.

The U’s and Bolton last met in the 2016/17 season, with both sides winning away from home by two goals. Prior to that, you’d have to go back 20 years to 1999 when the sides met in the old English Division One.

It could be Matty Taylor’s first start since suffering an injury at Bristol Rovers, but Tariqe Fosu could drop to the bench due to fitness despite an impressive display last time out.

We could also see a few players rested with a trip to Lincoln City and a Carabao Cup third-round tie with West Ham United both coming up.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Sam Long, Rob Dickie, John Mousinho, Kevin Berkoe, Cameron Brannagan, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Anthony Forde, Ben Woodburn, Shandon Baptiste, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: Bolton Wanderers 0-3 Oxford United
