Oxford United will be looking to put Saturday’s heavy defeat at Peterborough behind them when the U’s return to action at Burton Albion this Tuesday.

Karl Robinson’s side lost 4-0 at the Posh – their heaviest defeat since the same result on the opening day of last season at Barnsley – and will be looking to bounce back against the Brewers.

However, the U’s suffered their first home defeat of the season when the sides met back in August, with Nigel Clough’s side running out 4-2 winners at the Kassam.

Oxford have had just one win in 2020 – a 2-1 win over Blackpool but the man that scored both goals in Marcus Browne is ruled out with injury. The U’s have picked up just five points from a possible 18.

Burton played out a goalless draw against Gillingham on Saturday, but have won three and drawn three from their last seven league games.

Oxford have been strong at both ends this season but in their last six league games, the U’s have scored just six and conceded ten goals.

The U’s have welcomed back top scorers James Henry, Matty Taylor and Cameron Brannagan (with 28 goals between them) from their respective injuries, but neither player has managed to regain their form.

As for the Brewers, they’ve lost top scorer Liam Boyce who joined Hearts in the transfer window, but midfielders Scott Fraser and Lucas Akins have scored 18 goals between them, with the former also providing 14 assists.

The U’s don’t have the best head to head record against Burton, recording just three wins from 14 meetings. The two sides played out a goalless draw in this meeting last season.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Josh Ruffels, John Mousinho, Rob Dickie, Sam Long, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Cameron Brannagan, Mark Sykes, James Henry, Nathan Holland, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: Burton Albion 0-1 Oxford United
