Oxford United will be looking to put the disappointment of another postponed fixture behind them when they travel to Charlton Athletic on Tuesday night.

The U’s were set to face fierce rivals Swindon Town in what would have been just their second home game of the season, but the match was called off following a number of positive coronavirus cases in the Swindon camp.

It follows the cancellation of a home game against Crewe Alexandra, which has also been postponed on two separate occasions.

As a result, the U’s are at the wrong end of the table with just two wins from six games, and face an Addicks side that have 13 points from seven games following their relegation from the Championship last season.

John Mousinho could return to the starting line-up with Rob Atkinson still an injury doubt. The club haven’t updated Cameron Brannagan’s injury status, so it’s likely he will remain on the sidelines, but striker Sam Winnall could make a return.

Conor Washington and Chuks Aneke have both scored twice for Lee Bowyer’s side, but the latter missed their recent win against Northampton Town with a groin injury. Summer signing Marcus Maddison was on the bench against the Cobblers so he could be in line for his first start.

Charlton have won three games in succession and have kept four clean sheets in a row, leaving the U’s with a tough task.

However, Oxford are unbeaten in the last seven games against the Addicks, winning four and drawing three. One win came against Karl Robinson during his time in charge in South London when a late Ryan Ledson goal sealed a 3-2 win. Charlton’s last win came in an FA Cup tie in 2014.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Josh Ruffels, Elliott Moore, Sam Long, Sean Clare, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Anthony Forde, Mark Sykes, Marcus McGuane, James Henry, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: Charlton Athletic 1-1 Oxford United
