Preview: League One – Fleetwood Town vs Oxford United

|

Oxford United travel to Fleetwood Town tomorrow as the U’s search for their first league win in five games.

Karl Robinson’s side put a stop to a three-game losing streak last weekend after an enthralling 3-3 draw at home to Coventry City.

The Cod Army, meanwhile, have won three of their opening six league games, but lost last time out at Lincoln City, and bowed up of the Carabao Cup at the first round after defeat at Nottingham Forest.

In ten meetings between the two sides, Oxford have never beaten Fleetwood, with the Cod Army recording an impressive eight wins.

This fixture ended 2-2 last season as the U’s came from two goals down with goals from James Henry and Jamie Mackie in what was just the second draw between the two sides.

Oxford are still without Matty Taylor after picking up his injury at Bristol Rovers, but both Cameron Brannagan and Alex Rodriguez Gorrin have returned. Shandon Baptiste and Rob Hall have both managed to get some vital minutes under their belts as both players edge closer to full fitness.

But the U’s are without Ben Woodburn, Mark Sykes and Nico Jones, who are all away on international duty.

For Fleetwood, defender Harry Souttar has impressed this season, playing every game, scoring once and adding an assist, but the Australian is away on international duty.

Josh Morris has two goals from seven appearances from midfield, while Paddy Madden has already netted an impressive four goals. The U’s summer transfer target Ched Evans, who rejoined Fleetwood, has also found the net this season.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Josh Ruffels, Elliott Moore, Rob Dickie, Chris Cadden, Cameron Brannagan, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Tariqe Fosu, Shandon Baptiste, James Henry, Jamie Mackie.

Prediction: Fleetwood Town 1-1 Oxford United
