Oxford United kick off the new League One season with a trip to Michael Appleton’s Lincoln City. The U’s have been made one of the favourites for promotion this season, and will be looking for a strong start at Sincil Bank.

The U’s have made a positive start to the season. Karl Robinson’s side saw off AFC Wimbledon in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Saturday before overcoming a Chelsea U21 side in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday.

After the game, it was confirmed that Robinson had signed a new four year deal with the club.

Oxford will be looking to make a strong start to the season. The U’s recorded their highest ever away win in the Football League against the Imps last season, winning 6-0 at Sincil Bank. Oxford also won the home fixture against Appleton’s side.

The U’s are still without Jamie Hanson through injury, and there is concern over Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, although the Spaniard could return to the fold. Joel Cooper looks set to make his U’s debut having been away on international duty for the last two fixtures.

Appleton has made a number of summer signings at Lincoln. Among the 12 new additions are Liam Bridcutt, Conor McGrandles and Adam Jackson.

The U’s have won the last three meetings between the two sides. However, Lincoln had won the previous five before that.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Sean Clare, Elliott Moore, Rob AtkinsonJosh Ruffels, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Marcus McGuane, Cameron Brannagan, Joel Cooper, James Henry, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: Lincoln City 0-1 Oxford United
