Preview: League One – Oxford United v Accrington Stanley

|

Oxford United will be looking to keep their unbeaten home run intact when Accrington Stanley visit Grenoble Road on Tuesday night.

The U’s played out a 1-1 draw against Gillingham on Saturday and while it may be seen as two points dropped, it keeps the club in good home form.

Stanley also endured a stalemate at the weekend, drawing 3-3 on the road at ten-man Morecambe. As a result, John Coleman’s side are without a win in three having previously lost to Sunderland and Wigan respectively.

Accrington may find themselves in seventh spot but only two teams have conceded more league goals than the Lancashire outfit, having allowed nine goals in their last three games.

Defender Michael Nottingham and forward Colby Bishop have both scored three goals this season. For Oxford, Matty Taylor doubled his tally for the campaign with a strike against Gillingham while James Henry sits on four.

Oxford welcomed back Elliott Moore and Cameron Brannagan from injury and Sam Winnall is back fit despite not being selected against the Gills. Stanley are without Joe Pritchard and Harvey Rodgers.

Accrington won this fixture 2-1 last season but the U’s won the reverse 4-1. In fact, Stanley have won four of the last six meetings at Grenoble Road with Oxford winning the other two.

Predicted line-up: Jack Stevens, Steve Seddon, Jordan Thorniley, Elliott Moore, Sam Long, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Cameron Brannagan, James Henry, Gavin Whyte, Ryan Williams, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: Oxford United 2-1 Accrington Stanley
