Preview: League One – Oxford United vs Accrington Stanley

|

Oxford United face Accrington Stanley on Tuesday night as they look to record a third successive victory – a result which would move them back into the playoffs.

It is the first of two important homes, with Southend United the visitors on Saturday, as the U’s look to secure six points to push back into the playoffs.

The U’s are fresh of the back of a 1-0 win at Ipswich, which followed a triumphant 5-0 victory at home against AFC Wimbledon, while Stanley narrowly lost 2-1 against league leaders Rotherham.

It’s been a busy and challenging month for the U’s who have already played seven games in February, but have picked up three wins despite a disappointing January.

Before their defeat against the Millers, Stanley had won their previous three fixtures but had failed to win in their previous five before that.

Matty Taylor has scored four in his last four games, taking his tally to 14 for the season, while James Henry has taken his assist tally to eight.

For Stanley, Colby Bishop has twelve, Dion Charles has nine while Offrande Zanzala and Jordan Clark, who both scored when the sides last met, have both scored eight.

Charles and Clark have also provided 17 assists between them, while midfielder Joe Pritchard has added eight assists from midfield.

Oxford have fresh injury concerns with Anthony Forde, Mark Sykes and Nathan Holland all ruled out, but there could be a return for Ben Woodburn who hasn’t played since breaking a bone in his foot during the last meeting between the two sides in October.

The two sides played out a 2-2 draw in the last meeting, leaving the U’s winless against their opponents in four games following three previous defeats.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Josh Ruffels, Elliott Moore, Rob Dickie, Sam Long, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Cameron Brannagan, James Henry, Marcus Browne, Dan Agyei, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: Oxford United 2-0 Accrington Stanley
