Preview: League One – Oxford United vs Rochdale

|

Oxford United will be looking to end their winless run when the U’s welcome Rochdale on Tuesday night.

Karl Robinson’s side lost 2-0 at Fleetwood on Saturday – the fourth defeat in five league games – and sit bottom of League One as a result.

Rochdale are unbeaten in four league games, drawing their last two against Bristol Rovers and Sunderland respectively, and are on 12 points in 14th place.

The U’s are still without Cameron Brannagan through injury and Mark Sykes remains a doubt but there could be returns this week for John Mousinho and Sam Winnall. However, the pair may be rested with Saturday’s FA Cup clash against Peterborough United in mind.

Midfielder Matthew Lund has hit the net four times this season for a Dale side that have managed just ten league goals. Defensively, they aren’t so solid and have conceded one less than the U’s have this season.

The U’s are unbeaten in the last seven meetings between the two sides with five victories during that run. Rochdale have managed just one win in the last ten encounters. Last season, Karl Robinson’s side won this fixture 3-0.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Josh Ruffels, Sam Long, Elliott Moore, Sean Clare, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Anthony Forde, James Henry, Mide Shodipo, Dan Agyei, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: Oxford United 2-1 Rochdale
