The U's Matchzone

Preview: League One – Oxford United vs Rochdale

|

Oxford United will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to ten games this Saturday when Rochdale are the visitors to the Kassam Stadium.

Karl Robinson’s side continued their impressive period with a 2-1 win at Rotherham last time out and moved up to fifth in the table.

And despite not playing during the week when all the other sides did, the U’s only dropped one place to sixth, but find themselves just three points ahead of Dale in 12th.

Robinson shouldn’t have any fresh injury concerns, with Ben Woodburn, George Thorne and Jamie Hanson all still unavailable, but there could be a return for Anthony Forde.

It’s likely the U’s boss will field a similar starting eleven to the side that beat Rotherham last time out. Rob Dickie is available following his one-match suspension, but Matty Taylor is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season at the weekend.

After a loss at AFC Wimbledon, Rochdale have won three league games in succession following their 2-0 win over MK Dons on Tuesday night.

Dale have two exciting young full-backs with Wales Under 21 left-back Rhys Norrington-Davies scoring one and providing two assists, while 17-year-old right-back Luke Matheson has scored once and added one assist.

Central midfielder Callum Camps has delivered five assists and found the net four times, while Aaron Morely has also scored three times from midfield.

34-year-old striker Ian Henderson is the top scorer for Rochdale, with the skipper netting eight in all competitions with seven coming in League One.

The U’s are unbeaten against Rochdale in six games, with four wins and two draws. Oxford’s last defeat was 3-0 back in 2014 in League Two.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Josh Ruffels, Rob Dickie, Elliott Moore, Chris Cadden, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Cameron Brannagan, Shandon Baptiste, Tariqe Fosu, James Henry, Jamie Mackie.

Prediction: Oxford United 2-0 Rochdale
