Preview: League One – Oxford United vs Wycombe Wanderers

|

Oxford United welcome the league leaders this weekend as Wycombe Wanderers visit Grenoble road.

The U’s lost to MK Dons last time out in the league, ending their impressive 18-game unbeaten run, while Wycombe secured their eighth win in twelve league games with victory over Burton Albion.

Oxford also played on Wednesday night with Carabao Cup holders Manchester City knocking the U’s out of the competition at the quarter-final stage.

Both sides have been in devastating form and it should make for a great encounter.

Since 1994, the two sides have met 27 times with both teams winning ten. The U’s are also unbeaten in the last four against the Chairboys, winning three, with Wycombe winning just twice from their last nine meetings.

James Henry, who is the clubs top scorer this season, made the bench during the defeat against City as he returns from injury so would be a welcome return, but the U’s still have six players sidelined.

Cameron Brannagan and Tariqe Fosu will be looking to end their respective goal droughts, while Matty Taylor, who scored the equaliser against City, will be looking to reach double figures.

Left-back Joe Jacobson has scored six and provided three assists in 19 appearances, while forward Abebayo Akinfenwa has also found the net six times.

Predicted line-up: Jordan Archer, Josh Ruffels, Rob Dickie, Elliott Moore, Chris Cadden, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Cameron BrannaganJames Henry, Tariqe Fosu, Mark Sykes, Matty Taylor

Prediction: Oxford United 1-1 Wycombe Wanderers
