Oxford United end another turbulent week with a visit to fellow promotion hopefuls, Peterborough United.

The U’s were supposed to face Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night in what was already a rearranged fixture, but the visitors postponed the game for a second time.

As a result, Karl Robinson fielded two teams of 11 and played out a 50-minute friendly to help with match fitness.

Unfortunately, James Henry was withdrawn before the game, while Cameron Brannagan and Sean Clare were both subbed off during the match as a precaution.

The U’s have made a slow start to the league, winning just one of their four games, losing the other three.

Meanwhile, the Posh have picked up three wins from their opening five league games, but have suffered defeats at Accrington and Sunderland.

Summer signing Johnson Clarke-Harris has scored twice from five outings, as has Sammie Szmodics, who returned to the club following a successful loan spell from Bristol City. However, George Boyd has departed the Posh by mutual consent with his wages an issue with the imposed salary cap.

The U’s have a good record against Peterborough, despite losing this fixture 4-0 last season. That was just one of two wins for the Posh in the last 11 meetings, with Oxford recording seven wins in that run.

Predicted line-up: Simon Eastwood, Josh Ruffels, Rob Atkinson, Elliott Moore, Sam Long, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, Cameron Brannagan, Mark Sykes, Dan Agyei, James Henry, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: Peterborough United 1-1 Oxford United
