Oxford United travel to Plymouth on Tuesday night as they look to extend their unbeaten run to seven in all competitions.

The U’s saw off AFC Wimbledon on Boxing Day which followed up their win over Northampton Town. As a result, it was the first time Karl Robinson’s side have won back-to-back games this season.

Oxford headed into the game against the Cobblers with three successive draws against some top sides, and have now kept four clean sheets in their last five league games.

Plymouth drew at Charlton Athletic on Boxing Day but will be frustrated at letting the lead slip twice. The Pilgrims won their previous fixture against MK Dons but had failed to win from their seven league games, which included six defeats.

Plymouth are one point and one place above the U’s in 14th but have played one game more. They may have scored three more goals in the league than Oxford but the Pilgrims have conceded ten more than the U’s, with just three sides having conceded more all season.

Alex Rodriguez Gorrin will miss the game through suspension after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Wimbledon. Matty Taylor took his goal tally to eight for the campaign.

Twenty-year-old forward Luke Jephcott has netted ten goals this season with eight coming in the league. Conor Grant and Joe Edwards have both scored three goals each.

The last time the two sides met came on New Year’s Day in 2019. Oxford lost the game 3-0 but had lost just once from the previous nine fixtures before that meeting, winning six.

Predicted line-up: Jack Stevens, Josh Ruffels, Rob Atkinson, Elliott Moore, Sam Long, Jamie Hanson, Marcus McGuane, Liam Kelly, Jordan Obita, James Henry, Matty Taylor.

Prediction: Plymouth Argyle 0-1 Oxford United
