Oxford United defender Rob Dickie is the winner of the Andrew Knapton Trophy and Supporters’ Player of the Year for 2019/20.

The 24-year-old, who surpassed 100 Oxford appearances this season, has been one of a number of standout players for the U’s this season. The former Reading man has played more minutes than any other player this season.

As a result of his good form, the defender has already attracted interest from a number of Championship and Premier League clubs this season.

Dickie took the award with over 33% of the vote. James Henry came second, with Cameron Brannagan in third.

Speaking to the clubs’ official website, Dickie said: “It means the world to me to win this award. I wasn’t expecting it; there have been so many outstanding players and performances this season and I feel very humble really that the fans have voted for me.

“It’s something I will always remember and it caps an amazing season for me personally. If we can win promotion then that would just cap it all off perfectly.”

U’s boss Karl Robinson added: “Rob has really grown as a player this season and fully deserves the award. He has matured so much over the last couple of years.

“We made him captain and he accepted that responsibility and is becoming a real leader. If you add that to his outstanding ability, his commitment and his constant desire to improve and become an even better player then you can see why we rate him so highly.”

Dickie follows fellow defender Josh Ruffels who picked up the award last season. In all honesty, it could have come down to an entire starting XI to chose from, but Dickie was the deserved winner.
