Robinson Gives Injury Update

Oxford United manager Karl Robinson has given an injury update ahead of his sides trip to Accrington Stanley this Saturday.

Club Captain John Mousinho has been told the extent of the knee injury he sustained in the U’s Carabao Cup game against Watford last week. The 34-year-old saw a specialist yesterday and has been ruled out for between four to six weeks.

Although that’s a lengthy spell on the sidelines, the injury isn’t as bad as initially thought. Robinson told the clubs official website: “We were concerned initially about Mous’s injury.

“It’s not exactly good news that he is out for that long but I guess it is a positive considering how it looked when he first did it.”

Midfielder Jamie Hanson, who is just one of two players not to be named in a matchday squad, is expected to return to full training from Monday.

Robinson added: “Jamie is going well and should be back with us next week and we are starting to get players back.”

Sam Winnall, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin and Josh Ruffels are all still out, but the U’s boss also had his say on the trio.

“Sam Winnall is doing really well and gets closer every day, Alex Gorrin should be back out on the grass next week and Josh Ruffels is hopefully looking at a similar timescale.

“We are still looking to bring in players to strengthen us but it’s always good to have players getting that bit closer to being part of the squad again after injury.”
