Robinson Hoping To Add Liverpool Talent

Oxford United are hopeful of signing Liverpool and Wales attacker Ben Woodburn, according to The Daily Mail.

Despite being part of Liverpool’s pre-season tour in the USA, it looks likely that the 19-year-old will spend the season away from Anfield on loan, and Karl Robinson is hopeful of bringing the Wales international to the Kassam Stadium.

Capped ten times by Wales, Woodburn is also the youngest ever Liverpool goalscorer, breaking Michael Owen’s club record. But, despite his potential and ability, the youngster struggled whilst on loan at Sheffield United last season, making just seven appearances for the Blades.

It would be a sensational signing for the U’s, who themselves have had a disappointing transfer window so far, bringing in just three new faces. Woodburn, who can play on either wing and in an attacking central midfield role, would certainly boost the U’s attacking options.

Woodburn was in the Liverpool academy alongside U’s midfielder, Cameron Brannagan, who himself has managed to establish himself in the last eighteen months at the League One side.

Woodburn would also have some experience with Robinson, who coached at the Liverpool Academy before taking the managers position at MK Dons.
