Robinson Not Worried About Midfielders Discipline

Alex Rodriguez Gorrin has picked up a yellow card in each of Oxford United’s four league matches this season, but Karl Robinson isn’t worried.

If he picks up one more booking, the 26-year-old will face suspension, but the U’s boss is aware that Gorrin is vulnerable to being booked in the position he plays.

He told the Oxford Mail: “It’s just the fact that he puts in more tackles than anybody else. Weirdly there were three or four tackles which went in on Tuesday in the Burton game that didn’t get anything and his tackle was nowhere near as bad.

“I think Cameron Brannagan had the same thing last year. It’s nothing I’m worried about. We’ve got lot of cover in that area. When we lost players last season we didn’t have much cover to cope with the suspensions. We feel we have a good enough cover to cope with losing a player for a game.”

Gorrin, who could miss the trip to Bristol Rovers tomorrow with a slight hamstring strain, has been in impeccable form since his arrival from Motherwell and has formed a formidable partnership with Brannagan.

The midfielder has put in some strong performances in the league, and even impressed during pre-season, scoring in the defeat against QPR.

However, he wasn’t a regular north of the border, and as a result, Robinson may have to rest him more than he would like due to fitness.
