Robinson on Transfer Outgoings

|

Oxford United manager Karl Robinson has said that he will wait until the latter stages of the January transfer window before allowing fringe players to leave.

The U’s boss needs to reduce the wage bill after bringing in four new faces earlier this month, but injuries and the added threat of losing a big player to a higher club leaves Robinson with a juggling act.

He told the Oxford Mail: “Right now, no, but there will be.

“There are one or two things, maybe an injury which has cropped up, which might have stalled one or two things

“Once we get towards the end of the window I’ll feel a lot more comfortable in doing something.”

The U’s are yet to receive any offers for their key players – which include Rob Dickie and Cameron Brannagan amongst others – but the U’s boss expects that to change.

He added: “We’ve not had any yet, but I can assure you they’re hovering.

“I don’t think I’ve seen so many scouts from bigger clubs as were there on Tuesday.”

The U’s travel to Gillingham this Saturday looking for their first win of the New Year following back to back defeats and a goalless draw against Ipswich Town on Tuesday night.
