Robinson Reacts as Oxford Make History

|

Oxford United manager Karl Robinson was delighted with his sides emphatic win at Lincoln City, but admitted it wasn’t the best performance from his side this season.

A Tariqe Fosu hat trick and goals from Jamie Mackie, James Henry and Matty Taylor secured a historic record away win for the U’s over Michael Appleton’s Imps.

Robinson told the Oxford Mail: “It was just another good performance for us.

“I don’t think we’ve played any different in recent games. I think we were more dominant at Blackpool (a 2-1 defeat last month).

“We just found a rhythm and I’ve said before Tariqe is one of the best players I’ve signed if I can keep him in that mindset there’s not many better than him.

“The icing on the cake for us was Tayls getting that goal. You could see what that meant to him and the players knew as well.”

Fosu has now found the net four times this season, adding three assists, while Taylor netted his first goal since his return to the club, securing a record victory.

Robinson added: “I’m really pleased with the way we’ve gone about this.

“To set the biggest ever away league win, they are the little things you keep with you for the rest of your career. It’s something that can stand for a long time.”

The U’s are now unbeaten in three league games and have picked up seven points from a possible nine. Robinson’s side have scored nine goals in those matches, keeping three consecutive clean sheets.
