Robinson Recalls January Signing from Loan Spell

|

Oxford United have recalled January signing Rob Atkinson from his loan spell at Eastleigh.

The defender joined the club during the winter window and although he trained at the club for a few weeks, he was loaned back to the Vanarama National League side.

But with injury to John Mousinho and with Rob Dickie just one yellow card away from a two-match suspension, U’s boss Karl Robinson believes now is the right time to bring the 21-year-old back to the club.

He told the Oxford Mail: “Rob has done well in training and we have watched him for Eastleigh too.

“As well as Mous being injured we have Rob Dickie just one yellow card away from a suspension.

“Elliott Moore’s partner is also expecting their first baby in the next couple of weeks so it makes perfect sense to have Rob here and for him to be in and around the squad.”

Atkinson will be available for tomorrow nights League One clash at home to Accrington Stanley if needed, with the U’s confirming earlier today that Anthony Forde, Mark Sykes and Nathan Holland have all been ruled out with injury.
