Robinson to Welcome Back Injured Trio

|

Oxford United manager Karl Robinson is set to welcome back three players from injury this weekend against Gillingham.

Josh Ruffels, Alex Rodriguez Gorrin and Sam Winnall are all in line to feature against the Gills on Saturday in their League One match, which kicks off at 1 pm.

Ruffels, who damaged his shoulder in the U’s opening day defeat against Lincoln, will be a welcome return to an already stretched back four. That case is more so this weekend with Rob Atkinson also likely to miss the trip.

Gorrin picked up his ankle injury during the U’s Carabao Cup win against AFC Wimbledon, while Winnall has been regaining full fitness since his arrival, but was set back with a calf injury.

Speaking about the players, U’s boss Karl Robinson told the Oxford Mail: “We’re thankful to have the likes of Ruffs, Alex Gorrin and Sam Winnall back for the weekend.

“They are three big players for us to have back. We’re still waiting on Rob, but if it is anything he will maybe miss one game maximum.

“It was only a precaution that we brought him off on Tuesday. We’re leaving a lot of players behind for the first time in a long time.”
