Update from U’s Chairman

|

Oxford United chairman, Sumrith ‘Tiger’ Thanakarnjanasuth has given an update following the clubs fourth defeat in five games.

Tiger told the clubs official website: “One of the most difficult parts of my job as Chairman at Oxford is having to try and put across my thoughts when things go against us.

“I think this weekend was the worst this year for everyone – definitely for me.

“OK there were tough times at the start of last season but since January we have been doing well and then on Saturday everything felt so flat. We still have plenty of time but it is so disappointing to be chasing the teams above us again.

“I spoke with Karl and I spoke with staff and players; I always do that whether we win or lose. I also spoke with fans, something I think is important to do. Everyone was so disappointed but they all said pretty much the same thing, that this is a strong squad, stronger than last year, and we usually play good football.”

‘Tiger’ continued by saying that “he can see similarities with last year”, which is something that could worry a number of U’s fans. Oxford won just once from their opening twelve league games last term and were in the bottom four until the 18th game of the season.

Yes, they have suffered a few injuries and have seen players leave for international duty, but these problems affect the majority of other clubs in the league.

The U’s will be looking to turn things around this weekend when they welcome Tranmere, before a trip to Bolton. You could, or should expect the club to pick up six points from these two games, something which could propel their season back on track.
