After a short recruitment drive Oxford United have named their new man in charge.

Head Coach Michael Appleton has been replaced by Josep ‘Pep’ Clotet Ruiz. It appears the title of Head Coach has also disappeared with the U’s naming Pep as the new manager of Oxford United.

Born in Barcelona Pep played amateur football before gaining his coaching badges in his 20’s.

Pep’s career todate has seen him coaching youth football and reserve teams with the odd glimpse as no1 at a few clubs around Europe.

In Spain he’s been associated with CornellĂ , Espanyol, Malaga and Figueres.

In Sweden he’s been associated with Malmö FF, Halmstad and Viking.

In 2013 Michael Laudrup appointed him as part of his backroom staff at Premiership Swansea. In May 2014 he was named Assistant Manager to Gary Monk.

In 2016 he moved with Gary Monk to Leeds United as his Assistant at Elland Road, where he remained until taking up the hot seat in Oxford.
