Oxford United manager Karl Robinson and left-back Josh Ruffels have been nominated for the League One Manager and Player of the Month for January respectively.

The U’s went unbeaten in January and recorded five wins in all competitions. Oxford began the month with victory away at Burton Albion before a win over Cambridge United in the Football League Trophy.

A 2-0 success at home to Bristol Rovers was followed with a 4-3 victory away at Rochdale. The U’s ended the month with their first win over Fleetwood Town in 13 attempts.

During that run, Ruffels netted a brace at Burton and added an assist. The defender laid on an assist in the win over Rovers and scored the winner against the Cod Army. He also kept two clean sheets in the league.

Ruffels is shortlisted alongside midfielders George Honeyman of Hull City and Rochdale’s Matty Lund, with Sunderland striker Charlie Wyke completing the line-up.

Robinson is up against counterparts Lincoln manager Michael Appleton, Grant McCann of Hull City and Doncaster boss Darren Moore.

Last month, Robinson and goalkeeper Jack Stevens were both been nominated for the Player and Manager of the Month award for December.

The U’s went six unbeaten, recording three draws and three wins, with Stevens keeping four clean sheets from the six games.
