U’s Face Away Tie in FA Cup Fourth-Round

|

Oxford United have been drawn away in the FA Cup fourth-round against the winner of the third-round replay between Newcastle United and Rochdale.

The Premier League side were held 1-1 against the League One outfit on Saturday but will be firm favourites to progress to the fourth round.

The U’s have only faced sides in lower leagues than them so far, knocking out Hayes and Yeading United, Walsall and Hartlepool United during their cup run.

Karl Robinson’s side beat The Dale 3-0 earlier this season, and the U’s are unbeaten against the Greater Manchester side in seven meetings, losing just once from their last ten encounters.

Oxford beat The Toon Army at this stage three seasons ago, coming out as 3-0 winners against Rafa Benitez’s side, but you’d have to go back to 1993 for their previous encounter.

The fourth round ties are due to be played over the weekend of January 24-27, with winning clubs receiving £180,000 in prize money.
