U’s Face Lower League Opposition at Home in FA Cup

|

Oxford United have been drawn at home against lower league opposition in the third round of the FA Cup.

Karl Robinson’s side will face either Exeter City or Hartlepool United next month with the two sides needing a replay after they drew 2-2 in Devon yesterday.

The U’s, who reached the third round with wins over Hayes and Yeading United and Walsall, have made it this far in six of the last eight seasons but bowed out last time after defeat at Brentford.

Oxford are unbeaten in eight meetings against League Two Exeter, with the last three encounters ending in U’s victories.

The U’s have also won four out of the last six meetings with Hartlepool, with the National League Premier side winning just once.

Robinson’s side are currently on a sixteen game unbeaten run – a club record in the Football League, but face tough tests before this upcoming cup clash.

The ties are due to be played between January 3-6, so the League One clash with Accrington Stanley on January 4 will be postponed.
