U’s Fixtures Announced

|

The fixtures for the upcoming League One season have been announced this morning.

Oxford United travel to Michael Appleton’s Lincoln City on the opening day of the new season. When the sides met at Sincil Bank last year, Karl Robinson’s side secured the clubs highest ever away win in the Football League with a 6-0 victory.

The U’s end the season with a home game against Burton Albion – a fixture the Brewers won 4-2 last time out, with a home game against AFC Wimbledon on Boxing Day.

The eagerly anticipated return of the A420 Derby against Swindon Town was also a date many fans would be keeping an eye on. The Robins visit Grenoble Road on October 24, with the return at the County Ground on March 9.

Oxford’s first home game will be against Sunderland, and October begins with home matches against recently promoted Crewe Alexandra and Bristol Rovers.

November will see the U’s on the road in three of their four games, including trips to Wigan and Portsmouth.

Ipswich Town and Hull City visit the Kassam in December, which also includes away trips to Blackpool, Bristol Rovers and Plymouth Argyle.

At the moment, fans won’t be allowed back into stadiums until October, as per government guidelines. However, that date could yet get pushed back further as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
