Oxford United are keeping tabs on Brighton goalkeeper, James Beadle, according to Alan Nixon.

The 18-year-old is highly regarded at the Amex Stadium, meaning the move would only be on a loan basis.

The youngster spent the second half of last season on loan at Crewe in League Two and the Seagulls are wanting him to play at a higher level to help his development.

An England youth international, Beadle came through the ranks at Charlton before moving to the Premier League side in 2022.

He is yet to make a senior appearance for Brighton but is seen as one for the future.

Nixon adds that League One rivals Bolton have also been linked with the 18-year-old.

Should the U’s land the youngster, it would mean they would need to ship out at least one goalkeeper. Simon Eastwood was restored to the number one spot last under Karl Robinson last season after Jack Stevens was loaned out to Port Vale. The U’s also have Ed McGinty, who joined the club last summer.
