Chris Allen, 42 has been promoted to first team coach at Oxford United.

Oxford fans can call him one of our own as he grew up in Oxford and came through the youth team. He made 181 appearances for the U’s scoring 17 goals between 1991 and 1996.

The speedy left winger made 2 England U21 appearances and was sold to Nottingham Forest for £1/2 million in 1996. He went on to play for Luton, Cardiff, Port Vale, Stockport County, Brighton, Aldershot, Dover and North Leigh.

In 2010 he retired from playing football but returned to Oxford United as youth team coach in the same year.

Chris has overseen the development of several youth team players who have progressed to the first team. This season sees the first team bolstered by a record 11 players that have progressed from the youth set up.
